Exploration Hike with Dad!

Join us for a hike and bug scavenger hunt on the Warner Memorial Park trail. We encourage dads to participate in this group connection, but moms and other caregivers are welcome as well. First you can make a trail mix for your hike and grab a bag with a bingo card of toy bugs to look for. Then you will walk the trail and search for the toy bugs on your bingo card, but pay close attention because there will be some toy bugs out there that are not on your card! You can then take your bugs, some fun handouts and a book home with you. you will also be entered for a chance to win a fun door prize! The hike is on Saturday, October 24th from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please RSVP for this event by sending an e-mail to ashleysia@usd383.org, or let your parent educator know you would like to attend.

Routines

Schedules vs. Routines

Schedules can be rigid, such as 7 a.m. wake up, 8 a.m. breakfast, 9 a.m. free-play, 10 a.m. snack time, 11 a.m. free-play, and so on. Schedules inhibit flexibility and individuality, can lead to power struggles and lack choice. Routines, however, help develop self-control, build attachment, reduce power struggles, guide positive behavior and help children cope with transitions.. Use visuals to list out routines in order without strict times, such as wake up, eat breakfast, free-play, snack time, free-play, and so on.
