Community Partners

Law Enforcement

USD 383 works closely with our safety and security community partners. The Riley County Police Department provides 2 School Resource Officers who are stationed at Manhattan High School. In addition, there are several Adopt-a-School officers which serve some of our elementary and middle schools. USD 383 also has a strong partnership with the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's office. Their SRO often stops by Oliver Brown Elementary School to visit, have lunch, and maybe get in on a game of kickball.  We are also grateful for the partnership we have with the K-State Police Department.

Fire Department

Manhattan Fire Department, Riley County Fire District #1 and the Blue Township Fire Department are frequently in our schools conducting safety inspections. In addition, they also offer training and student instruction. The Fire Departments provide training and education to students during Fire Safety Week and provide students hand-on training on how to respond to a fire emergency.

Emergency Management

Additional community partners with USD 383 are the Riley County and Pottawatomie County Emergency Management Departments. Our district works hand-in-hand with Emergency Management who provide severe weather updates and recommendations so that weather emergency responses can be initiated in a timely manner.
