Beginning July 1, 2026, Kansas House Bill 2299 requires school districts to limit social media to one-way communication with students. The same legislation also established Kansas' new student cell phone requirements.

Because district employees may not engage with students through social media, and because it is not always possible to determine whether an account belongs to a current student, official Manhattan-Ogden USD 383 and school/building social media accounts will no longer respond to direct messages or comment-based conversations.
